Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis involves guided concentration or focused attention. Hypnosis is not sleep. A hypnotized person is not unconscious. A person in hypnosis hears everything that is said and remembers everything that goes on during the session. A hypnotized person will not do anything that violates his/her moral, religious or ethical code. If the hypnotized person is given a suggestion that he/she is uncomfortable with, he/she will reject the suggestion.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Yes! Anyone of normal intelligence can be hypnotized.

Can you be hypnotized without your consent?

No! Hypnosis is a 100% consent state.

Can a person be made to divulge secrets?

No! Your inhibitions are down while in trance, like after having a couple of drinks. If you have something you truly don't want to be known, you would keep that secret in hypnosis.

Are Your Sessions Confidential?

Yes. You will be provided a Client Bill of Rights which states that we will not release any confidential information to anyone without a written authorization from you, except as provided for by law.

What can I expect from a session?

I will discuss your goals or any issues that you may have. I will then explain how you can achieve your desired results with hypnosis. When you are comfortable with the process, the session will begin. You will be guided into a very deep state of physical relaxation. Although very physically relaxed, you will be extremely alert mentally. You will be aware of everything around you . I will then give your subconscious mind suggestions for the changes you desire, allowing you to accomplish goals and eliminate the blocks that have prevented you from achieving your Perfect Weight.

What is Hypnosis Used For?

Harriet specializes in Hypnosis for Weight Control but hypnosis can be used for many reasons such as relieving stress, insomnia, eliminating unwanted fears, smoking, and increasing self-esteem to name just a few.

Can Hypnosis Really Make Me Lose Weight?

What we do through hypnosis is to “re-align” your conscious and subconscious perceptions of your ideal weight, motivate you to move more and become healthier, and remove the subconscious blocks so that the weight can come off.

Of course, no one can “make” you lose weight. It is not as if you are hypnotized and then wake up the next day 20 pounds lighter without thinking about it. What we do is to put in suggestions to the subconscious mind that when acted upon will have you thinking like a slim-trim person, instill new beneficial habits and become more capable and determined to stick to them.

When those suggestions get into your subconscious mind, you’ll find you have increased motivation and desire for exercise, that you find yourself eating healthier foods, and the weight will start to come off! After you’ve lost your first few pounds and have kept it off, you’ll be a believer in hypnosis.
